Buttonate Privacy Policy

This policy applies to Buttonate, an app for Apple devices distributed worldwide through Apple’s App Store.

Information we collect

Buttonate does not have accounts. You don’t give us an email address, password, name, or any other identifying information to use the app.

Apple Home data stays on your device

Buttonate works with your Apple Home setup. We do not transmit your home name, room names, or accessory names off of your device. That information is not sent to us, to our service providers, or to anyone else.

Diagnostics

When Buttonate crashes or hits an error, anonymous diagnostic information is sent to Sentry (Privacy policy) so we can find and fix bugs. Sentry can record IP addresses, but we have turned that off.

Usage analytics

Buttonate uses Simple Analytics (Privacy policy) to collect anonymous, non-personally identifying information about how the app is used, such as which screens are opened and which features are tapped. Simple Analytics does not use cookies, does not record IP addresses, and does not build user profiles.

Apple App Analytics

If you have turned on Share With App Developers in your device’s privacy settings, Apple shares anonymized, aggregated usage and performance data with us through App Analytics. This is controlled entirely by Apple and by your device settings. You can turn it off at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. See Apple’s privacy policy for details on what Apple collects.

TestFlight

If you participate in a TestFlight beta of Buttonate, Apple provides us with crash logs and basic usage information about your beta builds through App Store Connect. This is controlled by Apple. See Apple’s privacy policy for details.

Information usage

We use the information we collect to operate and improve Buttonate. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for marketing or advertising. We may disclose information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; or to investigate or prevent illegal activity, fraud, or abuse of the app. In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, any information we have may be among the transferred assets.

Security

All communication between Buttonate and our service providers uses HTTPS. Because Buttonate has no accounts and does not collect personal information, there is very little about you for us to protect in the first place.

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

Buttonate is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone we know to be under 13.

Information for European Union and UK Customers

By using Buttonate, you authorize us to collect and use the limited information described above, including processing it outside the European Union and the United Kingdom.

International Transfers of Information

Information may be processed, stored, and used outside the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may apply to your information depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.

By using Buttonate, you consent to this privacy policy.

Contacting Us
